GDC Impact Database

The GDC Impact Database extracts impact and development metrics directly from organisation reports and structures them for comparison — replacing scattered PDFs with a consistent, queryable dataset.

Organisations are structured around the GDC Fund Ecosystem Structure (GDC-FES): a three-tier model spanning Limited Partners, General Partners, and Funds, so relationships between capital providers and capital deployers are visible, not just individual organisation profiles.

  • Tier 1 — Limited Partners: the capital providers behind development finance
  • Tier 2 — General Partners: the managers deploying that capital
  • Tier 3 — Funds: the vehicles through which capital reaches organisations on the ground

Currently in MVP: 3 seed organisations live (ALIVE Ventures, New Forests, Acumen), with taxonomy updates underway ahead of expanding the dataset.

Development Impact Scores (DIS)

DIS is a scoring layer built on top of the Impact Database — designed to translate the structured data each organisation reports into a comparable, at-a-glance measure of development impact.

DIS is being built once the underlying database taxonomy is finalised, so scores are grounded in a consistent, comparable dataset rather than one-off report extraction.

What's next

Update the LP / GP / Fund taxonomy across both the analyst and client tools, re-categorise existing organisations, expand the dataset to around ten organisations, then move into DIS scoring and commercial strategy.
